Locally known as Big Pierre, Located on SR 163 on the Marblehead Peninsula.
If you have every been driving down State Route 163, heading to catch the ferry or visiting one of your favorite local spots, I am sure you have seen the big guy hanging out on the side of the road. Big Jacques stands 20-30 feet tall and has been spending his days here since the 70’s. He originally stood in front of Jacques’ Roast Beef in Marion, Ohio in the 60’s and early 70’s. When he did have hands...he held a tray of giant roast beef sandwiches. Once Jacques moved to Marblehead, the sandwiches were replaced with a pizza box and he became know as Big Pierre to us local folks.
Big Jacques/Big Pierre has been the subject of many vacation photographs, as when you see him, you just have to stop and get a picture with him. After all it’s not everyday you see a tall, handsome man like Big Jacques. Sadly, he cannot wave hello to visitors that pass by, as you can see from the photo, somewhere along the way he lost his hands and the delicious food he was holding. But rest assured, his giant smile is saying “Welcome to the Lake! Wish you could see the view from up here... it’s amazing!”
We love you Big Jacques ~ Big Pierre!
